PICTURE:
The picture is incredible! It is hooked up component from a Denon 2805 receiver and a high def Sat receiver.
INSTALLATION:
I have it wall mounted above my fireplace and looks great. It's a little higher than you would like but when laying in a recliner it's perfect.
PLASMA FUNCTIONS:
I have a universal Orion remote that controls my media rack as well. This remote does everything imaginable. The only problem is you need a laptop and special software to program it.
QUALITY RATING: 9

Q: Describe the picture of the plasma TV/LCD monitor in terms of clarity, color reproduction, contrast and brightness.
A: The Picture is fantastic. Clear lines, easy to adjust, perfect whether DVD or PC generated. Even broadcast pictures are clear than previous HDTV projector system owned previously.
Q: What are your general comments on your Plasma TVs/LCD Monitors? How do you like it?
A: Look great, easy to use, and on Manhattan where square footage is a premium, the space savings are great. Easier on the eye than traditional TV or monitors. Make the room feel cooler with less glare.
Q: How would you best describe the design and looks of the Plasma TV/LCD Monitor?
A: Even when turned off dramatic!!! Subtile clean lines, feels substantial but not at all weighty. Gave the room a new larger feel.
Q: What is the Plasma TV/LCD used for? A: Home Living Room
Q: Please explain how the Plasma TV/LCD Monitor was installed.
A: Self installed on stand. Stand was easy to assemple. Hooking up the feeds took only a few seconds. Worked instantly with zero problems.
Q: Where did you purchase your Plasma TV/LCD Monitor? How was your buying experience?
A: DTVCity was great. Laura the sales person provided quick quote. TV was delivered the next day. Laura followed up to make certain everything went well. Earlier on Brent provided excellent advice when comparing different features of the TVs. Wish all on-line purchases were as smooth as this one. Good comparison and details in pictures helped with decision substantially.

Q: Describe the picture of the plasma TV/LCD monitor in terms of clarity, color reproduction, contrast and brightness.
A: Color, contrast and brightness are very good and there seems to be a wide control range. The clarity of still images is very good also but it appears that motion images are a little blurred.
Q: What are your general comments on your Plasma TVs/LCD Monitors? How do you like it?
A: I like it and will probably buy more.
Q: How would you best describe the design and looks of the Plasma TV/LCD Monitor?
A: The front is good but the inputs and power should be in the same spot. On this one the inputs are on the left side and the power is on the bottom. Having all the inputs on the bottom with some kind of cable track would probably be better. The BNC type connectors are uncommon and should have been more RCA type to allow more than one component video input.
Q: Where did you purchase your Plasma TV/LCD Monitor? How was your buying experience?
A: DTVCity. Very good. The plasma was delivered on time by a professional delivery company without any issues. The information provided on their site was helpful in selecting the correct screen for my application.

- NEC 42XM2 42" Plasma TV Review - 3 Customer Reviews

Model: 42XM2
Q: Describe the picture of the plasma TV/LCD monitor in terms of clarity, color reproduction, contrast and brightness.
A: The clarity, color, contrast and brightness of this monitor is superb and is on par with those much more expensive models I looked at in the local (few) stores with plasma sets. For my satellite/DVD/Ultimate TV environment, the monitor is ideal. DVD's are outstanding, especially when coupled with my Yamaha HTR5460 A/V Dobly digital/DTS receiver. I am looking forward to the day when there is enough high definition content available via satellite to warrant purchasing an HDTV receiver for my system.
Q: What are your general comments on your Plasma TVs/LCD Monitors? How do you like it?
A: We love it! We had an excellent Toshiba 36" Cinema Series before, but it would not fit into our new home's built in TV/bookcase space, so the Plasma was our best solution. Besides the great picture, the set was easy to install ourselves--much more so than our old 200# monster. My only gripe is that the screen on this model is not anti-glare and we do get some window reflections during the day. Nonetheless, I would never go back to rear projection or to tube type TV's again after watching this set
Q: How would you best describe the design and looks of the Plasma TV/LCD Monitor?
A: Our new house has built in cabinets that "hide" all of the components and tangle of cables of our home theater system. The NEC 42" has a sleek, unobtrusive design that merges perfectly with our desire to see the picture, not the TV! The slim size of the monitor also allows us to be able to tilt the unit to one side for optimum viewing (unfortunately our family room has the TV alcove off center). The monitor seems well thought out and sturdy and certainly has more inputs than most other comparably priced models
Q: What is the Plasma TV/LCD used for? A: Home Living Room
Q: Please explain how the Plasma TV/LCD Monitor was installed.
A: I installed the monitor on the NEC table stand which was both easy to do and sturdy when completed. If outside glare on the screen is a concern, I would recommend the tilting wall mount so as to have more control of viewing angle. For my particular built-in cabinet alcove, the table stand works very well.
Q: Your Comments About Your Purchase:
A: I bought our NEC from DTVCity.com and have only good things to say about their service. Ultimately, it came down to the fact that their net price was the lowest I could find anywhere and their helpfulness was the best! Although here in Seattle we have several chains that sell some Plasma sets and one store that deals exclusively in them, nearly all of the background information that I needed to make an informed decision on plasma, HDTV, cabling, digital TV, etc. was from sources on the internet supported by DTVCity.com. I made several calls to them regarding yet unanswered questions and on extended warranty options and I was always treated professionally and courteously. This was much better than my experiences with local chain retailers who often tended to be condescending or ill-informed. This purchase was an extravagance to me and I certainly did not want to spend that much money without doing my homework. Without DTVCity.com's help, I probably would not have purchased a plasma set, thinking there were too many unknowns. I am glad I bought from them. I was especially impressed by the quick delivery (same as my local dealer had promised) and the excellent packaging that NEC uses---the shipping carton was well designed to prevent damage in shipment and the shipper DTVCity.com used was very careful and not a corner of the carton was damaged. Impressive and necessary for such an expensive item.
Their internet materials were extremely helpful but I had to do a bit more digging to satisfy myself about plasma set reliability, special considerations which might affect one's need for an extended warranty, and ultimately getting information about the warranty coverage itself. It would be nice to have that extra detail on the internet links.

Q: Describe the picture of the plasma TV/LCD monitor in terms of clarity, color reproduction, contrast and brightness.
A: Brilliant color, super white whites and jet black blacks. I had a little trouble adjusting the fleshtones at first, but it's very intuitive and just takes a little patience. Hey, who doesn't like to play with a new gadget. Big boys and their toys!
Q: What are your general comments on your Plasma TVs/LCD Monitors? How do you like it?
A: DVD pictures are astonishing and the array of inputs is amazing. I was surprised at the incredible picture detail I'd been missing. I love it. And I was very impressed with the quick shipping and the very cool way the progress of the shipment could be monitored on the web.
Q: How would you best describe the design and looks of the Plasma TV/LCD Monitor?
A: Clean modern design, it would fit in any decor, in my place it's between a 200 year old Grandfather clock on one side and a piece of art on the other and looks great. As a matter of fact, it makes a big impact. I bought the table stand, too, just in case I move or change my mind on location, but on the wall it looks great and saves so much room. The box it comes in is so well packed, I freaked out at the size, but really appreciated all the care that went into the packing. One box after another down to the actual monitor -- it takes two people for the installation, don't even think you can unpack it alone -- but it was fun. I followed all the unpacking instructions to the letter. It took my friend and me about 15 minutes! That easy! Carrying away all the packing material is the bigger part of the job.
Q: What is the Plasma TV/LCD used for? A: Home Living Room
Q: Where did you purchase your Plasma TV/LCD Monitor? How was your buying experience?
A: DTVCity.com on the web. Very personal buying experience, great communication on what to expect, progress and follow up and great price, too.

Desribe-Input-Signals:
PC input is very clear - RGB1 DVD is spectacular S Video from cable is grainy but likely cable provider - will try satellite.
Desribe-Plasma-Installation:
Installed on a wall - with the top 1/3 of screen raised above the top of the wall which look VERY stylish. Simple grey surround looks stylish and shouldn't date easily.
Desribe-Plasma-Functions:
Remote is simple and easy to use - menus are straight forward and clear.
Desribe-Buying-Experience:
I was planning to buy the panasonic which was more expensive but after taling to the PlasmaDepot sales staff the NEC turned out to be the better option as I can use it in the UK if I return home in the future. The process of buying the TV was informative, and straight forward. I have purchased a TV from the internet before and had a very bad experience - PlasmaDepot was professional and helpful in making my purchase and your customer return policy is very fair.
