Key Features of the Toshiba 26HL84 26" LCD TV Monitor

Toshiba LCD Display Technology

Intelligent Digital Scan Conversion
The advanced IDSC scan conversion system of the Toshiba 26HL84 accepts and identifies varying video signals then routes and processes each signal to ensure optimum display of every signal source. Frame, line and pixel doublers are utilized on lower quality interlaced signals to create a flicker-free full frame display. Hyper-Progressive Scanning continuously analyzes 13,600 points on screen to create smooth edges and eliminate "stairstepping" artifacts. Finally, Advanced Digital Noise Reduction provides a smooth, noise free image from analog signals such as cable TV of VCRs. The result is a sharp, smooth, film-like image without the unwanted noise and artifacts caused by other scan conversion systems.

CrystalScan HDSC™
upconverts all video signals (including 480i/p) to 1080i HD. This results in a significant reduction in jagged-line artifacts which produces a smoother, more natural image. Selectable 540p, for users who want to display a progressive scan image from a progressive scan source, is available via the on-screen menu.

3D Y/C (4MB, 10 Bit) Digital Comb Filter
provides more accurate processing of RF and composite video signals for a sharper, cleaner picture This advanced Comb Filter significantly reduces detail noise, seen as shimmering or flicker, in complex or intricately detailed scenes.

HD Dynamic Contrast - This feature continually analyzes picture information and enhances those parts of the picture with the most detail information which results in a sharper, deeper, more film-like image.

Cinema Mode (3:2 Pulldown Switch) - This circuitry identifies original film based content from DVDs, it then reassembles the frame sequence to more accurately reproduce the original 24 frame film-based material. This process eliminates artifacts and results in sharp, accurate full-frame progressive images.

Toshiba PixelPure Processing

6.2 Million Pixel Over Sampling - for Higher Perceived Resolution with Decreased Image Distortion

Real Speed Progressive Scanning - uses Additional Sampling Points to Create Smoother Diagonal Lines

Magic Square Algorithm - for Smooth and Natural Color Gradation

Dynamic Contrast Enhancer - for Higher Perceived Contrast and Increased Color Saturation and Purity

Super Real Transient and Small Signal Sharpness - for Sharp Transitions from Dark to Bright

Color Transient Improver - for Sharp Transitions on Color Changes Without Bleeding

Color Detail Enhancer - to Maintain Fine Image Detail in Color Saturated Areas

Convenience Features

Direct Access of Video Inputs
The television's inputs can be quickly selected without scrolling through all available inputs. With as many as seven inputs available, access speed to your desired source is increased.

Individual A/V Settings for Inputs
All video signals are not created equally. This feature allows the viewer to save video adjustment for each type of input. This ensures optimum display of each type of source.

Audio System Features

Double Baffle Cabinet Design
Stereo reproduction is improved by mounting the televisions internal speakers on either side of the picture tube. This provides enhanced stereo sound without the need for additional speakers.

StableSound
Television volume is maintained within a preset range regardless of the source signal. This eliminates the annoyance of normal program volume being followed immediately by extremely loud commercial messages or drastic volume fluctuations while changing channels.

SRS® WOW Sound Enhancements
WOW is an exciting new technology from SRS Labs that dramatically improves the quality, dynamics, image field size and bass tones of digital audio. Ordinary stereo performance usually results in limited spatial presentation, and often lack-luster bass performance. With SRS WOW technology, the Toshiba 32HL84P delivers an audio performance with drastically improved imaging, dynamics and immersion.

WOW processed audio creates spatial cues that surrounds the listener with a holographic representation of the performance resulting in a larger image field—a "bigger," more impressive sound with deep, rich bass.

SRS TruBass
TruBass is a patented SRS technology that enhances bass performance by utilizing proprietary psychoacoustic techniques. These techniques restore the perception of fundamental low frequency tones by utilizing the harmonics present in the original audio source to recreate the low bass frequency information – even if this information is below the speaker or headphones low frequency limitations. TruBass delivers the perception of deep rich bass while using small speaker drivers that complement the sleek flat panel design of Toshiba LCD TVs.

SRS FOCUS
FOCUS sound enhancement elevates the sound image field to create the perception of image height, delivering an enlarged sound image with a broad "sweet spot." Additionally, FOCUS improves clarity in the high frequencies and is very immersive for the listener, electronically repositioning the sound field to the optimal position in front of the listener.

Terminals and Connections

ColorStream Component Video Inputs
ColorStream Component Video Inputs are the best analog connections for today's high-resolution digital sources, such as DVD players and Digital Set-Top Boxes. Three cables, Y (Luminance), Pr (Red - Y) and Pb (Blue - Y), deliver a cleaner, clearer signal , resulting in higher resolution and greater color purity for the ultimate in picture quality.

HD Component Video Inputs
All Toshiba HDTV Compatible televisions include two sets of ColorStream HD Component Video Inputs. These inputs are capable on receiving 480i and 480p signals, as well as 1080i HDTV. Multiple high-resolution capable inputs provide an increased level of connectivity and future readiness for progressive DVD players and set-top boxes.

Fixed and Variable Audio Outputs
Allow you to feed audio signal to your home theater system.
