Pioneer's unique HD processing technology enhances even standard-resolution sources and supports JPEG picture viewing, PC input and Internet browsing. Pioneer has added its Super CLEAR Drive to the PDP-5030HD, increasing the Grey Scale to 1,024 steps, giving more than one billion colors.

The Pioneer Super CLEAR Drive intelligently uses smaller stepping levels in the low brightness section realising a "blacker" black. Dynamic High Definition Converter
The new converter changes interlaced video signals to the progressive XGA resolution of the plasma panel. The Media Receiver's digital circuitry uses advanced line-doubling and signal conversion to create smoother, sharper, clearer images, making Pioneer plasma TVs ready to manage data for new high definition formats such as HDTV, as well as existing standard definition sources.

Natural Enhancer
Conventional picture processing methods tend to enhance image outlines creating an unnatural reproduction of the detailed edge. The newly-developed Natural Enhancer solves this issue by balancing the outline to create a sharp, lifelike image.

Richer Colors
Pioneer's advanced Super CLEAR Drive eliminates false contours in poor gradation areas, intensifies contrast, improves shades of gray and purifies blackness. Dual Noise Reduction (NR)

For TV programming we subscribe to Comcast digital cable with the High Definition option. Hi-def is far better than standard TV and even digital broadcasts. The differences between regular TV, digital TV and then Hi-def are very obvious. Smooth edges on picture / image transitions are obvious to the average person watching anything in HDTV. People could not believe the broader perspective one gets when watching a sporting event like the Super Bowl. Desribe-Plasma-Installation: The 4340 comes with a pedestal stand that enables the display to swivel - very handy for different seating arrangements in the room. We have the pedestal on a Bello 2-shelf contemporary stand. We have the speakers mounted along the bottom of the display, rather than the side (another option of the 4340 is speaker placement). The clean lines of the display and the black border makes for an attractive room addition, even when the display is off.
