Panasonic Plasma

Formerly Matsushita Electric Industrial Co., Ltd, Panasonic was founded in Japan in 1918 and went on to become Japan's largest electronics producer. In 1961 Panasonic produced it first television and entered the flat panel market in 1999.

Panasonic VIERA PX80 Series Plasmas

The TH-42PX80U and TH-50PX80U represent Panasonic's entry level televisions in the VIERA line. They feature 720p resolution, a piano black bezel. With a 15,000:1 contrast ratio, virtual surround and an SD card slot for viewing pictures these plasma televisions boast a lot of nice features for the entry level price.

Panasonic VIERA PZ80 Series

The PZ80U line up features one of Panasonic's entries in the 46" category with the TH-46PZ80U. Packed with the features of the VIERA PX80 line but with a full high definition 1080p plasma panel the TH-42PZ80U, the TH-50PZ80U and the afore mentioned 46" model provide a crisp, high resolution picture at a fantastic price.

Panasonic VIERA PZ85 Series

Stepping up again we come the VIERA PZ85 line. Featuring a 1080p panel, 24p film playback and a 30,000:1 contrast ratio the TH-50PZ85U and the smaller TH-46PZ85U and TH-42PZ85U are the mid range of the 2008/2009 line up. These televisions offer great features and picture at a good value as you can see in our review of the TH-46PZ85U.

Panasonic VIERA PZ800 Series

Nearing the high end of the 2008/2009 VIERA line up the TH-50PZ800U, TH-46PZ800U and TH-42PZ800U are among the first THX certified plasma televisions. A 1,000,000:1 dymanic contrast ration and advanced pixel processing give the 1080p plasma panel an extrordinary picture. A fully glass front layer gives the PZ800 line a sleek, futuristic look.

Panasonic VIERA PZ850 Series

At the top of the 2008/2009 line we find the very refined PZ850 series from Panasonic. The abiliy to access Youtube, Google and the Picasa picture library directly from your TV tops off the robust feature set of the 2008/2009 VIERA line up.

Panasonic VIERA PX14 Series

Another budget line of plasmas from Panasonic for 2009, the VIERA PX14 plasmas are 720p sets with a minimum of extra features. You do get the VIERA link feature which is nice if you own a compatible camera or camcorder.

Panasonic VIERA PS14 Series

This February of 2009 release plasma model contains the new Neo Plasma display panel which Panasonic is touting as its latest and greatest, with 1080p resolution, 600Hz sub-field drive, deeper blacks and improved contrast ratio to native 30,000:1.
