Zenith Plasma List of Categories
- I purchased a zenith 42" plasma and have not been happy with the resolution. I'm comparing this to my old analog tv. Anyway it turns out that I purchased an edtv unit and not a true hdtv. I spoke with a salesman who suggested I purchase a edtv to hdtv convertor which he claims should help with improving the resolution. Is this the case or is this another sales pitch or did I jump the gun here and in part wasted some good money on the wrong unit. Thanks in advance for your response
- Pro opion needed! Side by side would you chose a Zenith P42W34 EDTV plasma , Sampo "HDTV" PME42X6 Plasma,or Philips 42FD9935 plasma EDTV? and why..thanks!

There is no such device that can convert an EDTV to an HDTV. The native resolution (number of pixels) is fixed for the plasma display. A plasma will generally look better than a CRT. Many feel it does not because the size is typically larger and now can see imperfections in the broadcast signal.

Depending on your viewing habits, I would recommend a specific set, EDTV versus HDTV. For future proofing and HDTV viewing, go with an HDTV set. If you only plan on watching DVDs and standard definition, then select an EDTV. Of the models listed, I would shy away from all of them based on picture performance and fan noise.
