- When I try and use the supplied DVI cable from my LG3410A set top box with my Toshiba 42HP83 plasma DVI input, it starts to say DVI block after a couple of minutes. Both are supposed to be compatible. Why do you think this is happening?
- I was going to purchase the toshiba 24 hd plasma. I understand the deals on it are good ($4200) because it is being discontinued. your site has a good review on the plasma. Should i be concerned that it is being discontinued or view it as a bargain?
- Overall I like the 42hp83.However flesh tones are very pixelated or pasty and blotchy. It looks terrible. This is with both my cable programs and DVD's. Have three other TV's on same network and everything is fine.I have made numerous adjustments with color,tint contrast etc. Nothing helps!!What gives?

You may experience a humming noise from a fan located in the plasma. The fan is required to help the heat dissipate from the unit. You can also experience a humming sound from some units without fans. This is more common in higher elevations in which the transformers have to work harder to produce the image on the display.

The Toshiba is a good product. The tuner simply makes it cable ready. Basically, one can plug the coax cable from the cable outlet directly into the plasma for standard analog cable service. I have heard of many equipment incompatibilities when using DVI. Are you seeing a picture for a few minutes then it blocks the signal or does it not show up at all? If you have no picture at all, I would make sure the DVI output is active on the LG3410A. If you see a picture then it blocks the image, I would contact Toshiba since the DVI connection is equipped with HDCP.

When new models are introduced, bargains are going to be available. I have always liked the 42HP83P plasma from Toshiba. It represents a good value and performer.

I did not find that with the Toshiba plasmas I reviewed. I would suggest either an ISF calibration from a professional or the AVIA or Video Esstentials calibration DVDs.
