- I am in the process of buying a samsung plasma from tiny. they insist that i take out extra warranty, which covers me when the tv needs recharging with gas in 2-3 years time. I thought this was strange so i contacted a plasma dealer who says that the gas should last a life time. who do you suppose is right
- I have a sony ke32ts2e - 3 months old. on the right side i am intermitently getting a vertical line of neon red pixels, sometimes complete top to bottom, other times it varies. am i right to be concerned ?
- I live at an elevation above 6000 ft and was told this affects how long the picture or plasma screen will last. Am I safe to buy a plasma and possible take it to an even higher elevation for use at a mountain cabin.
- My father in law just recently had his Plasma display(Zenith) replaced by the dealer because of a "line problem"....Last night i had some lines appear as I was watching Lost, i though it was the cable, but it was on every channel, even when i turned my digital receiver off. They appeared for a while than disappeared, reappeared and than finally disappeared. What is this caused by and can it be fixed? I already contacted the dealer for warranty service.

There is no such process to "recharge" the gas in a plasma. It is a myth. I do suggest a warranty to insure your investment.

I would be somewhat concerned. I would contact Sony to resolve the problem.

6000 ft is near the borderline for most plasmas. There are some on the market designed for higher altitudes. You could look into some of those models or look at alternative technologies such as LCD or DLP.

I can not attest to the cause or suggest a resolution, hopefully the warranty service center will have the answers you seek. It sounds like a defect in the product, either design flaw or the initial fix did not solve the root of the problem.
