- I am planing to buy a Panasonic 42PWD6 plasma with the component interface unit fitted. Do you think I will get a good picture using my Yamaha DSP-AX750se AV amplifer as an AV switch and upconverter. My DVD player supports progressive scan but my other sources, cable etc, only support composite or S-Video at best.
- I have a non-bearing 3-5/8" mtl stud parition wall. Can I mount directly into the metal studs, if yes waht type of screws are recommended. Thank you in advance.
- Hi. I want to hook up a plasma tv (I'm thinking of the sony PFM-42X1) to my computer but I am concerned about the aspect ratio issues. My computer has a widescreen mode of 1280x768 which doesn't match pixel-to-pixel to the plasma's resolution of 1024x768. What will happen when the plasma tries to display the image? Will it scale it, throwing away the pixels, and will it look good when using the display for text-based work (eg web)? Thanks
- I recently bought the th42pd25up and would like to know what kind of monster cable should I be using? It sounds a little stupid but I am not technology savvy. And do I need 2 cables, one for DVD player and second for my HD reviever? thanks in advance.
- I own a Panasonic TH-42PWD5UY. I live in a country where calibrations are very expensive and none are certified calibrators. There are no refunds too. Since I want to maximaze the video potentials of my panny, and finally appreciate what real black and gamma settings are about, can you please recommend the settings I should use. I don't aim for perfection just as close to it without costing me an arm and a leg. Thank you and I'm sure I'm not alone who will be very very grateful for the settings you can recommend. More Power!
- I am looking to buy a plasma tv to put in a conference room. I am wanting to do powerpoint presentations from it. What kind of cabling will i need to have in place and how will i go about hooking it up?
- Hi, I need to install 2 speakers no shielded very near my plasma tv, is this possible??, how can affect my plasma tv this speakers without magnetic shield protection, thanks.
- I recently bought a Panasonic TH42PHD6UY plasma, and was wondering how it was possible to receive local channels, since the TV doesn't have a built-in channel tuner. Other than buying an expensive HD tuner, or getting it through Dish Network , is there any other way?
- What is the Ideal Height to install a 50" Pioneer Plasma in a living room ?
- I have the Pioneer 5040HD and am looking for a mount. I need something as close to the wall as possible but with the option to tilt it a little to the left or to the right. What would you suggest? Is the 50" too heavy for this? Thanks

Yamaha makes good quality products. If your specific receiver supports component video switching, I do not think you will notice much if any signal degredation. Otherwise, you will want to use component directly to the plasma from the DVD player and the rest through the AV receiver.

You will have to check with the manufacturer of the wall mount for specific instructions. Some do not recommend metal studs at all.

A plasma will scale every signal to its native resolution. To get the best picture, you will want to map your resolution to the native resolution. You may want to investigate a free software program called Powerstrip.

To simplify things. You will require one cable for all audio signals and one cable for all video signals. Budget around 10% of your system cost towards cables. Monster is not a type of cable but a brand.

If you are not willing to have a professional calibration, the next best thing is to use a calibration DVD. I like both DVDs from AVIA and Video Essentials.

I assume the presentations will be from a computer. Check to make sure the plasma has a computer input either VGA or DVI. Then verify your PC, either VGA or DVI. Run which ever matches your components, consider running both if the plasma has both inputs. That will allow flexibility and little future proofing. Other audio and video cables will depend on your other sources. One cable for each video source and one cable for each audio source.

Plasmas do not used electron guns like CRT's; therefore, they are not effected by magnetic fields. You can safely mount the speakers near the plasma without any picture distortion.

You would need an external tuner. Which could be as simple as a VCR.

- What is the Ideal Height to install a 50" Pioneer Plasma in a living room ?
I think it is always personal preference. I generally suggest the bottom to be near eye level.

I am not aware of any mounts that remain very close to the wall and allow for left to right movement. One of the major benefits of a plasma is the viewing angle. One can see the picture from 160 to 170 degrees.
