- we are going to install a panasonic th42pa20 over a fireplace on a built out corner, planning to make a 6" deep enclosure for the 3" tilt bracket and 3" tv depth. customers want minimal gap around the tv obviously, the manual recommends almost 4" around! hoping something around 2" would be acceptable, fireplace heat should not be factored in on this situation, thanks a million!
- I have just purchased a Panasonic WD6 42" screen. What is the best conector to use for quality of image, is it SVideo or Componenet. Thanks
- I have a question in regards to the JVC PD-42WV74. I was wondering how long the cable was connecting the Plasma to the media box. This is important in regards to Plasma placement relative to the other A/V equipment. Also, I read that the DVI port on the JVC does not suppot PCs. I saw no mention confirming nor denying that in your review. Thanks for your time.
- with either a plasma or an lcd tv is there a media center that can be bought to limit the wires going to the tv. i do find plasma with media centers but they are not the one i would like to buy.. any sugestions? im going to have a dvd, tivo, cable and maybe a computer.. thanks
- I am getting ready to hang my new 42" Plasma on the wall. The electrical outlet and cable tv outlet are directly 4ft under where I will be mounting the plasma. My question is, are there any trim plates out there to allow the AC plug of the tv/cable line and component video cable to go through so that it will look nice down below and behind the tv? I am planning on running the AC cord of the tv, the cable line and the component cable line behind the wall down to the plugs.
- What are the advantages, if any, of using an external video processor such as the Faroudja DCDi with units that have built-in scalers.
- after reading your review i purchased a TH42PWD6uy. what is my best bet for speakers? will any panasonic surround sound system work? do i need anything other than speakers? any other installation tricks i should know about?
- When watching live football on my vision 4230 the quality is poor. My stb is connected through a video recorder to a digital a/v and that is connected to the plasma by the video input, is there any other way of connecting the stb to get a much clearer picture? thanks.
- My question is about installation on a brick fireplace. I've read the faq but nothing specifically addressed my question. Is it possible to install a plasma above a brick fireplace without having the wires show? I can't seem to find a way. BTW, it is a ventless gas fireplace.
- I just installed my set and I installed several Ferrite cores (per the manual).(I have a Panasonic TH-42PA20) It appears that they are only required on some cabling connections and not others. Why? What do they do, and how can I be sure I have them on all the cables I need to? (i.e. it appears arbitrary to me in the manual). B.

I would follow the manufacturer's guidelines when possible. If clearance issues are a problem, I would suggest additional space behind the unit or a venting system.

In order of best to worst regardless of the make: HDMI, DVI, Component, S-Video, Composite

The cable is 3 meters long or just under 10 feet. I would contact JVC directly to determine if the DVI is designed for computer use since there have been many compatibility issues with DVI across the board.

Move A/V receivers can be used as a switch device to reduce the number of cables going to the display.

I would contact a licensed electrician or A/V installer to wire an additional outlet behind the plamsa. There are wall plates for various interconnects and can be found at most home improvement stores.

The advantage is typically found in the number of inputs of an outboard scaler. Also, these outboard scalers are generally going to perform better than the ones built into the set. Some allow for various outputs to match the native resolution of the plasma or display device.

Congratulations on your recent purchase. There are optional stereo speakers available for that unit if you are looking for a built-in feel. Otherwise, any brand of surround speakers and a/v receiver is compatible with the unit. I would suggest a receiver with component ins/outs for the best image quality.

The best connection is going directly from the source to the display using the following inputs in order of preference, HDMI, DVI, Component, S-Video, Composite. If your signal is only poor on the live programming, it is probably the source signal. As that has a tremendous impact on what the image will look like on the display.

It is possible using proper anchors. Fishing wires behind the fireplace may be very difficult and I would consult with a A/V design professional. Please visit CEDIA.org to locate someone in your area.

The ferrite cores help to reduce any noice in the system from EMF.
