- My HD comcast cable box requires a DVI-D single link...but my new XBR sony plama requires a dual link DVI... how can i get this to work via the DVI ports??
- I have a Panasonic TH-42PA20 and I also have a flat wall mount (Peerless PSWPAN42). It appears that it might be difficult to connect the cables to the back of the tv and then slide the bracket (attached to the back of the tv)into the wall plate. Won't the cables get caught on the wall plate as the bracket slides into place? I plan on having the cables go from the tv, into the wall, and then out of the wall near the floor so that they may be attached to the appropriate components. I haven't attempted to install the wall mount yet. I want to know how to go about connecting the cables and sliding the plate into the bracket before I get started. What is the best approach to solve this problem (without hiring someone to install it for me)?
- I am wanting to purchase a 5Mtr cable which goes from screen to media ctr for a samsung 42" Model of screen 8MGPS42 where can i purchas one and how much will i pay
- I'm new to the plasma world & now have read your entire forum. Basic question: I'm starting from scratch owning no components, but currently building a home. What cables should I pre-install in the wall considering a 42" unit with all sources located within a centralized closet 8' away? My only current input source is a digital cable box. I'm looking for performance & high quality, time to be spoiled.
- What is everyone setting their 42 inch panels to? As far contrast, brightness, etc.
- Our cable provider uses a PACE set top box to convert digital to HDTV with video output via DVI and several types of audio output. Pioneer Pro 1110 and 5040 models have digital inputs via HDMI but no DVI or other audio. Other than using an A/V home theater type unit is there another way to get the digital signals from the PACE to the Pioneeds without going D to A to D.
- Can a Plasma TV be safely mounted on a wall with metal studs?
- Hi, i am considering buying a panasonic TH-42PDW6UY plasma tv. The room in which it will be intalled is not very high and so i have been searching on net how high on the wall i should hang it. Is there any formula for us to know it's right size and how high i should hang it?
- We're thinking about buying a Panasonic TH42PHD6UY monitor. Our cable company offers a set top box with a DVI-D output. Would it be worth it for us to buy the DVI-D terminal board for the monitor so we could use the DVI-D output? Is there a noticable improvement in quality over component video? Thank-you.
- I recently purchased a NEC 42mp1 and am trying to use it as a computer monitor primarily. I have noticed that the screen has a blurry picture on just about every application. Using a Mid-grade nVidia g-card in the computer. Using the standard monitor input. Any suggestions?

A single link DVI-D cable will work. If your cable box was dual link compatible, I would suggest a dual link cable. Single link and dual link just refers to the direction the equipment can transmit/receive.

It should not be a problem to preconnect the cables then slide the unit into place. I believe once you start, you will see it will not be a problem.

You should be able to purchase that cable through Samsung. Please contact them for the cost.

It is depends a lot on the components you will have in conjunction with the plasma. I would suggest running at least a component cable for DVD players and component for HD signals. You opt to run HDMI or DVI cables based on your equipment. I would also consider running a composite and s-video cable for a vcr or other low resolution signal. I would suggest contacting a home theater design professional or one of the recommended resellers for additional information and compatibility.

These settings will vary from each plasma and depends on each specific environment. I would suggest using AVIA or Video Essentials DVDs for calibration.

HDMI is backwards compatible with DVI, so all you need is an DVI to HDMI adaptor or cable with HDMI on one end and DVI on the other to maintain the digital transmission.

Plasmas can be mounted to walls with metal studs using the correct hardware.

There are no rules, mount it at the height you desire.

I prefer the DVI over standard component inputs as it keeps the signal digital throughout the process. I would say that it makes about a 10-20% improvement in picture quality.

The monitor has a 853x480 native resolution, so try to match the video card output resolution to that for the best image. I typically suggest an HDTV (1024x768 or higher) monitor for most computer users.
