- Where can I read some customer reviews of the Pioneer plasma TVs?
- What is the word on the new Pioneer 5040 Plasma Television? Is it supposed to be better than the new Panasonic 50PHDUY?
- I was told by a brick and mortar specialty store that Pioneer's manufacturer's warranty is void if the plasma screen is bought online. Is there any truth to this?
- We have a Pioneer 4330HD plasma display system. The split screen functioned as advertised when connected to our analog cable box when configured according to the instructions. We then switched to digital cable and the new coverter box requires the cable signal to input directly into it, rather than the Pioneer tuner (the cable provider indicated that the cable box will time-out if it doesn't receive the cable input directly). This configuration gives us a great image, but split screen is no longer available for antennas A and B. I believe the reason is because the HDTV signal is now being sent to the tuner into Input 3/component video terminals. Do you know how to get split screen (Antenna A and B) when the cable input is direct to the cable box, not the pioneer tuner? Split screen does work between the TV and DVD or VCR.
- I am considering purchasing Pioneer PDP503CMX plasma. Do I need to have an additional video card for this plasma if I am only going to use it for home theater use (dvd, VCR, cable)?
- I believe that I am ready to buy the Pioneer PDP-503CMX. It is priced much less than its sister, the PRO-1000HD; and as you have described, the two are identical with the exception looks and whether a video card is included. I actually prefer the toned down looks of the PDP-503CMX versus the PRO 1000HD. My question concerns the video card options. Does the optional PDA-5002 video card for the PDP-503CMX allow for multipicture viewing (e.g PIP or split-screen), or do I need to purchase a different video card? For that matter, does the video card that comes with the PRO-1000HD allow for multi-picture viewing? I cannot seem to locate the answer to these questions from other sources.
- can the elite model be used as a computer screen and a tv?
- I recently bought a Pioneer Plasma TV model PDP5040HD and found the media receiver especially noisy. It is mostly fan noise. I find it very annoying and distracting when I am watching TV and at the same time hear this buzzing noise. It is noticeable even with the volume on. I am suprised Pioneer engineer miss out this very important issue.
- After you buy the pioneer PDA5002 video card and put it in the expansion slot. How do you get the sound from the plasma to a surround sound reciever? I have looked at all the pictures and it seems to show no output for sound on the card. Also on the right side of the plasma shows inputs for speakers, and on the left as well. Are they the only means of feeding audio out of the tv to a reciever?
- Hi, I recently bought a Pioneer PDP-4340HD. Does this unit employ pixel rotating or any other feature to prevent after image?

- What is the word on the new Pioneer 5040 Plasma Television? Is it supposed to be better than the new Panasonic 50PHDUY?
The Pioneer PDP5040HD and Panasonic TH50PHD6UY are designed for different markets. To say that one model of brand x is supposed to be better than one model of brand y is not a fair statement. The PDP5040HD is better than the PDP5030HD from last year and the TH50PHD6UY is better than the TH50PHD5UY. The Panasonic has a higher resolution and higher contrast ratio than the Pioneer. The Pioneer is brighter and includes detachable speakers, and the table-stand. The Pioneer also has an outboard media receiver that includes dual tuners, NTSC and ATSC for HDTV decoding. The Pioneer also features two HDMI inputs. The speakers, table-stand and DVI (HDCP) are optional on the Panasonic. At this time, there is no expansion module with HDMI for the Panasonic; however, there could be one in the future.

There is some truth to the statement. It is not whether the store is online or B&M, it has to do with being an authorized reseller or dealer. If the company is authorized to sell the products, then Pioneer will honor the warranty. That is the case for all brands.

Now, that you have upgraded to digital cable and have a set-top box, it changes the signal. The digital cable box is now the tuner and the one built into the plasma media receiver will not decode the digital signal. You could split the cable before it goes into the digital box and run one cable into the original input you had the analog cable going into the media receiver, then run the other into the digital cable box and into the media receiver. This will allow for PIP, however, one will of course be the old standard analog cable while the other will be the digital cable signal.

Yes, the PDP503CMX requires one of the optional video cards if you plan on viewing anything other than from a computer.

The PDA 5002 card for the 503CMX does not support PIP, the Aurora TVP-1000 does support PIP. The Pro1000 also supports PIP.

You may want to contact Pioneer with the problem as we did not experience this with our test unit.

In general, all of the audio connections from your video equipment (DVD player, satellite box, etc) would go to your HT receiver, the video signals would go to the Plasma screen. The connections on the sides are for the optional speakers, if you run the audio signal to the plasma, then it would output through those speakers.
