- Hi! In a previous question on your site you say that the panasonic TH42PHD6UY defaults to the s-video over the composite. Will it default to the s-video when you have the component and s-video plugged in at the same time?
- I would like to have 4 separate inputs :2 scartRGB, 1VGA d-sub 15pin, and 1 component video. I need them all permanenetly connected and switchable by remote control. Will I be able to do this with the 42PWD6 ? Thanks
- I am considering a Panasonic TH-42PDW6UY for a bedroom installation. Does anyone know if it has a sleep timer? The spec sheet says it has an "Auto Power Off" function. What does this do?
- Am I missing something or is the only audio output on the Panasonic TH-42PWD6UY the speaker output? What would be the best way to connect it to a stereo amplifier?
- I am considering the purchase of the Panasonic Th-42PDW6UY. I currently have digital cable (not HDTV) being shown on a 32" Sony Wega. Will this cable source appear more grainy and/or less crisp on the Panasonic Plasma than it does on my current TV? I certainly don't want to "downgrade" my current picture quality!
- What are the differance between the new Viera line of plasma TVs and the PX20's / PHD6's? Should one wait for the new line to come out?
- With all the new plasmas out there would you still consider the panasonic-th42pwd6uy an excellent picture and plasma
- I purchased the Panasonic 42PWD6UY. I just set it up and we're not thrilled with the picutre. I'm using an s-video hook up (thats all my DVR allows). The picture isn't really better than the 32" sony wega we have. The picture isn't crisp, and when you stretch normal TV or even a DVD to fit the full screen, the people almost look fat and even less clear. I see some people on the forum talking about the "Digital Video Essential" DVD for calibration. Should I use something like that for a non HDTV plasma screen? Is it just possible that we're not calibrating it correctly? I sure don't like the idea of paying $3000 for a TV only to find it's picture isn't any better than the one I already have...
- would like infomation about the panasonic model number TH42PD25UP.
- How would I hook up my normal cable box to a Panasonic TH-42PWD6UY ? The cable box has the old coaxal cable input & output (RF). Thank you.

From the factory, the S-video and composite are both used for input 2, while the component is utilized on input 3. You can use the input button on the remote to cycle through the different inputs. However, on input 2 from the factory, the s-video supercedes the composite input. Although it has been my experience that the composite appears better than the s-video.

The Panasonic TH42PWD6UY does not have any SCART inputs. Those are found on models for sale in Europe only.

The Th-42PWD6UY does not have a sleep timer, the auto power off will turn off the unit when it does not sense a signal for a set duration of time.

The only audio out are the speaker level outputs. The best method to connect to a separate amplifier is to come from the video source's audio outputs directly to the amplifier.

The plasma will have a superior image to any CRT. The TH42PWD6UY will shine on the non-HDTV material.

There is really no new unit on the market that is a better value and performer than the TH42PWD6UY. I do not consider anything new from Gateway, Sampo, Samsung, or Akai, etc. to be better than the Panasonic in its category for an EDTV plasma.

I think you will find that the composite input will give you a better picture than the S-video, although that is contrary to how it should be. This apparently is some phenomenon with the Panasonic plasmas. Component or DVI will give you a superior picture for other sources. Digital Video Essentials is for HD, you can use the DVD version for calibration on your EDTV.

If it is a digital cable box, it should offer more than a coaxial cable output. I would double check for a composite or s-video output. If it is an analog cable box, your best means would be to use a VCR and output from it to the plasma from the composite output on the VCR.
