- In your professional opinions which would you reccomend the Sony PFM42V1 or the Panasonic TH-42PDW6UY?
- is a viewing distance from a 50'' panasonic hd. plasma, of 10'9'' o.k. or would I be better off going to a 42'' set.
- Hi, I'm consider to purchase a 50PHD6UY model. I'm currently have Directv HD receiver and an external OTA antenna for local HD stations. Do I need to buy a NTSC decoder (sp?)for me to view the local HD stations?
- Can TIVO be incorporated with a Panasonic 42" plasma? If so, can the Panasonic remote be used or is it necessary to use the Tivo remote?

- I have just purchased the 42 PHD6UY model. For some reason the apect button on the remote is not working. This concerns me because some of the HD programming is being delivered in 4:3 ratio and I want to avoid burn in. The manual says that certain signals will not allow the aspect ratio to be changed and the default would be "full" but I'm getting some programming in 4:3 and no ability to change the aspect ratio. I'm using component hooks ups that are being received through input # 3. Any suggestions ?
- I have a 42pwd6uy hooked up to a Denon DVM-2815 with component video cables. With the DVD player set to interlace everything looks great. When I switch to progressive all the whites become blown out. You no longer see any detail in the white parts of the image. I have set picture, brightness and input to their minimum values and it has no significant effect in restoring the detail. Do you have any ideas what might be going on? Thanks
- Hi,I have a 42 " TH-42Pa20 plasma tv. I recently connect a LG Dv7832NXC DVD Player with DVI output. The 480p resolution is normal. I can upgrade to 1080i resolution but i have a 1 " black border line in the right border of the screen.I want a full screen movie. Can you help me ?
- I just purchased the Panasonic TH-42PWD6UY Plasma TV. I know it does not have a built in tuner. I am only going to connect a DVD and TiVo. Will the TiVo act as a tuner?
- I have purchased a 50" and 42" plasma and running both through seperate video recorders ( no tuners)one sitting on top of the other on top of satelite receiver. I am also running satelite tv through them but the picture clarity is not crystal clear. Ghosting and a constant bar running from bottom to top. Do I need to purchase a tuner to improve picture or resite one of the video recorders away from the other. regards.

10'-9" is generally well within the guidelines for viewing a 50" plasma. It always depends on the person, I would suggest going to a store and standing or sitting the distance at which you would view it from home.

You will require an ATSC HD decoder to pick up the local channels in HD.

A TIVO can be used with a plasma. The Panasonic consumer plasmas come with universal remotes that can be programmed to operate other devices, the commercial plasma remotes are not universal or programmable.

They are the same unit, most likely typos on the websites in which you see it referenced.

I would suggest contacting Panasonic's technical support line (800.222.0741) as the aspect ratio button should work for you.

I have not heard of this problem before, perhaps you can try another DVD player set to progressive scan and see if you experience the same problem. If you get the same results, I would contact Panasonic, if not, I would contact DENON. Or leave your Denon set at interlaced and enjoy the picture.

The TH42PA20UP is an EDTV with a resolution of 854x480 and will down convert the 1080i signal to 480p. The black border may be do to the aspect ratio of the DVD. Please see http://www.widescreen.org/index.shtml for explaination of aspect ratios.

You will have to check in your TIVO manual for the specifications and determine if it has an NTSC tuner built it. It seems to vary depending on the model as some are designed for satellite only.

I have not heard of this problem before. It sounds like you may have a bad connection somewhere. I would check the cables you are using, since digital satellite should not have any ghosting nor a horizontal bar running from bottom to top. There may be some interference in your system causing the problem.
