- What is the difference between the TH-42PHD6UY and the TH-42PX20UP . I read your FAQ on this topic but still don't understand why the TH-42PHD6UY is listed around $7,995 and sells for about $4,479 but the TH-42PX20UP is listed around $6,500 and sells for about $4,979. I want to buy a 42" Panasonic Hi-Def TV as soon as possible, but I can't make up my mind between these two. Can you please help? Thank you very much... David
- Wanting to know about the burn-in issue..will watching dvds that leave a band of black at the top and bottom of image, burn-in a line across the screen eventually?
- I am considering a Panasonic TH-42PWD6UY to conect to my current home theatre system. In order to obtain the PIP or side-by-side picture, will I need to purchase an additional module other than what comes standard with the unit? My inputs will be HDTV box from my cable company and VCR tuner.
- I purchased a TH-50PHD6UY and have component cables from my HD STB to the component inputs on the plasma. I have purple and green shaded color bars rolling from bottom to top of screen while watching both Digital and HD cable. Is there a way to tweek the display configurations to eliminate this ? I have been trying for days to make adjustments and have had no progress. I haven't asked my cable company to roll out yet as I thought it must be the display given that the same thing happens when I swap the output cables to my DVD player to test.
- Thank you for your time. This is an excellent resource. Why are the articulating mounts so expensive? Do you know of anyplacew that sells a good quality mount in the 250-300 range (or cheaper)? Panasonics price of $500 just seams outrageous.
- The Panasonic TH-50PX20U has the new HDMI input, is there an adapter for DVI-D to HDMI? Any online sources? If so, is the digital audio stream conveyed through this connection?
- I went on the panasonic website to look at their TV's and they say that there is no model; TH-42PWD6UY They say that there uis a 6 uX and then they say that there is not available on line buying source. What's up with that?
- Has anyone heard that once theTH-42WD6UY or 42PHD6UY is mounted on the wall it shorts out?A dealer recently told me this and that Panasonic stoped shipping because of this problem.Whats the story?
- Can the TH42PHD6UY perfectly display PAL region 2 DVDs when connected to a progessive scan multi-region DVD player?
- I am an expat living in Moscow. I want to buy a Panasonic plasma TH-50PX20U/P but I am worried that the NTSC reciever will be a problem if I move to other countries. Is this model multi-system and useable in any country like Australia? Regards John

The list price of a product and the dealer cost are independent of the features of the plasmas. The selling prices are set base on supply and demand amongst other variables. I would base your decision on the features you want in the plasma. Then seek out a reputable dealer with the best price.

- Wanting to know about the burn-in issue..will watching dvds that leave a band of black at the top and bottom of image, burn-in a line across the screen eventually?
The plasmas have an aspect ratio of 16:9 or 1.78. The black bars you see on the top and bottom appear on 4:3 (1.33) ratio TVs when the DVD is being played in the widescreen format. With the 1.78 aspect ratio of the plasma, there will be no black bars if the DVD is shot in the 1.78 aspect ratio. Movies are also available in 1.82, 2.33 aspect ratios as well as a couple others. Depending on the aspect ratio of the movie and viewing screen, you may see some black bars. All plasmas have various aspect ratio modes to zoom and fill the screen. If you are concerned with burn-in, I would zoom the image on the screen to fill up the entire display. If you watch movies occasionally, I would not be overly concerned with burn-in from the black bars.

If your HDTV box from your cable company connection is through the component connection only, and the vcr is connected to the composite conenction, you would not need an additional expansion module. You can then connect a DVD player to the PC in, VGA port using a VGA-RCA breakout component cable.

It sounds like it might be the cables since you experience the same problem with another source. If you still experience the same problem with a different cable, you may consider contacting Panasonic's technical support line 800.222.0741.

The articulating mounts are very flexible for positioning the plasmas. Combine that with being able to sustain the weight of the plasmas, (50" weigh an average of 100 lbs) you can see how they can be higher in price than a stationary flat wall mount.

The digital audio stream will be conveyed through this connection if it is being output from your source. I have found a few online retailers with DVI-D to HDMI cables. I have not located any plug end adaptors.

Here is the link to the TH-42PWD6UY on the Panasonic website: http://www.panasonic.com/pbds/subcat/products/displays_monitors/f_th-42pwd6uy.html

I have heard no reports of this. It sounds as if it was a poor installation and the power cord could have been pinched by the wall mount causing a short.

- Can the TH42PHD6UY perfectly display PAL region 2 DVDs when connected to a progessive scan multi-region DVD player?
Yes, the Th42PHD6UY is compatible with the following color systems: NTSC, PAL, PAL 60 Hz, SECAM.

The TH-50PX20UP only works with the NTSC color system, so it would not work for you in Austrailia or anywhere that uses PAL or SECAM.
