- I'm using the Avia calibration disc on my Panasonic 42" Plasma. Should the color temp be set to Cool, Standard or Warm for the best calibration.
- Any idea when the TH-65PHD7UY will be available
- I recently bought the Panasonic model 50PHD6UY..the 50" Plasma HDTV unit. It has a great picture on HDTV but on non HDTV channels it's very grainy..Not nearly as clear as my old Sony 32" flat screen non HDTV television. I realize one was analog and the HDTV is in digital but is there anything I can do to improve the non HDTV channels resolution and clarity? I have the latest HDTV cables...a great cable connection...the Monster cables...everything I think was needed for a great picture but the regular non HDTV channels still look lousy! Help!
- Can any set of speakers be connected to the TH42PWD7UY? If so, how are they amplified and what type of connection is it? Thanks, Jim
- is TH-50PHD7UY a multi region disply and can be used all over the world providing that we will adjust its power supply with down stepping
- One year and a half ago I bought a TH-50PHD5 Panasonic Plasma. It came equipped with 3 input boards: PC, composite/s-video and component video. While questioning why I get so poor image quality from the high-end DVD player I bought last week, I've learned that nowadays the component video signal is capped at 480p, due to copyright issues. 720p and 1080i resolutions are only supported over HDCP/HDMI outputs. Is there any way to upgrade any of my input boards to HDMI/HDCP? Will this upgrade also increase the number of total colors from 16.77 million to today’s standard of 3.62 (full time), 8.58 (maximum) billion?
- Thanks for this forum, it has been very helpful in deciding on a plasma. However, after reading all the questions here, I'm still not clear about the 720p HD format. Does the TH-42PD25U accept (and downsample gracefully) 720p HD format? Panasonic's web site tech specs HDTV compatibility for this model lists 1080i and 480p, but doesn't mention 720p. I read in another question's answer that the consumer division decided not to support 720p, but what happens when a station broadcasts their station in 720p format?
- Hi, I've been reading on avsforum.com that the consumer model, 42pd25 has the 6th generation glass and does not have new signal processors. I'm reading that the 7th generation glass and new signal processor are in the 7UY and not the consumer model??? Thanks, Tam
- I am thinking about buying the TH-42PD25U, which your review states the burn-in issue has mostly been resolved up to the point that it is near the same as CRT. Should I still be concerned with using a PlayStation 2 on a Plasma (heard they are bad for Plasma due to burn-in)? Also, the same issue with News stations that have newsrollers at the bottom which have some static framing around them. Alleviate my fear that this is really a concern or not? I would say we probably would use the Plasma no more than 2 hours a day for these purposes.
- I have TH42PWD7UY with A/V(s-video) on slot 2 and Component/RGB In on slot 3. I have DVD, VCR, and Replay TV(tivo). how can I connect all three at the same time? Can I connect my Replay TV(tivo) to Component/RGB in on slot 3 and connect my dvd(s-video) and vcr to slot 2 (A/V component)? let me know if this is possible

You may want to experiment to see which one comes closest to the reference films. The standard reference color temp is 6500 K (Kelvin), which is usually going to be the warm setting for most tvs.

I expect to see them in stores near the end of the year.

Once someone gets accustomed to seeing HDTV, everything else starts to appear inferior. In your situation, you also increased the screen size. The plasma will emphasize a poor quality signal. A smaller screen will always appear to have a sharper image from the same viewing distance. The only solution to improve the lower resolution signals is to use an external scaler such as the DVDO iScanHD.

Yes, the plasma has a built in amplifier (8W x 2) and the inputs are standard speaker wire input terminals.

TV's do not have region settings like a DVD player. To move from country to country, you will need to verify the video system playback of NTSC, PAL, SECAM and voltage requirements of 110V to 220V.

The component inputs are NOT capped at 480p. They can easily accept 720p and 1080i signals. You may be confusing some DVD players which can scale the image to 720p or 1080i through a DVI or HDMI output. There are very few that can scale through component.

From speaking with a Panasonic technical support representative, the plasmas will convert the 720p signals to 1080i from component or HDMI. It will accept 720p and not convert from the cable card or the VGA inputs. The TH42PD25 is an EDTV and the signal will be downcoverted to 480p.

Burn in as you have read is no longer the issue it used to be with plasmas.

You will need to purchase an additional expansion module to have 3 discrete inputs. The composite/S-video card is one input and it defaults to s-video.
