- What is the difference between th-42pa20u/p and the th-43pd25u? Please compare. Thanks.
- How does the Panasonic TH-42PA20U rate in comparison to the Sony PFM-42V1/S in terms of picture quality? And I have looked and looked and can't find if the Sony has a built in NTSC tuner for regular tv viewing. I am debating as to which unit to get and want to know if they both have the same relative features. Thanks.
- Does the Panasonic TH-42PWD6UY comes with universal power supply i.e 110/220 AC input power
- My new Panasonic TH-50PX25U/P Plasma Display shown a big black out in the center with two 2 in wide screen showing the edge of ABC on both sides. Is that means the new TV is not working?
- I just recently purchased a TH-42PWD6UY and find myself very worried about burn-in. Is burn-in a cumulative phenomena (i.e. The station logos. Does the burn in process start over after the logo goes away, say during a commercial, and then returns. Or, does all the time add up to cause burn-in?). Everything I have read says not to have a static picture (or logo) for "a length of time". Can this be quantified in minutes or hours? Thanks! BTW. This is an excellent source of information and I appreciate it.
- does panasonic offer a new line of 37in plasmas in hdtv? thanks
- I was considering the Panasonic TH50PX20UP, but noticed that it doesn't allow for 720p through component or HDMI interface (only supports 720p in PC mode). I'm wondering if this is a large drawback, only supporting 1080i (and not 720p) through component and HDMI interface? When high definition DVDs/players become available, do you think they will support 1080i (in addition to 720p)?
- How does the picture-in-picture function work on the Panasonic professional models? I am considering the 42" PWD6UY and currently have DirectTV, DVD and VCR signals running through a Pioneer audio/video multi-channel receiver, which then outputs to my television. What I'm specifically looking for is how to have two channels of DirecTV on the screen at the same time. I did see one post regarding this on your site, but it really didn't answer my question clearly. Thanks!
- I'm interested in the Panasonic TH-42PWD6UY especially after reading your review. I also read and agree that it's not a good idea to have the built-in-tuner. My questions are: 1) Does this model have a built-in-tuner? 2) How can I determine by looking at the specs of other Plasma TV whether they include a built-in-tuner or not? 3) If I've a cable or satellite digital signal as the input, do we still need to get a HDTV decoder box or can the signal go right to the TV? Thanks
- What are the differences (besides built in tuner/ speakers) between the new Panasonic TH-50PX25U/P and the TH-50PHD6UY? Thanks much (and great site)! -MJ

The newer TH42PD25UP has an ATSC tuner for digital and HDTV reception. You will find more tv's with the ATSC tuner as we near the end of 2006 as mandated by the FCC.

The Panasonic TH42PA20UP is similar to the Panasonic TH42PWD6UY in terms of picture performance. So the review between the 42PWD and 42V1 would be applicable. The Sony PFM 42V1 does not have a tuner built in. The TH-42PWD6UY only operates on 110V 50/60Hz.

Something is definately wrong with your plasma. Contact the store from which you purchased the plasma or Panasonic.

Enter the menu settings for that model and enable the "wobbler". That will activate the pixel rotating and help prevent any burn-in. Normal viewing will not result in burn-in. There is no specific duration that has been measured that will cause burn-in.

I am not aware of any new 37" HDTV plasmas from Panasonic.

I do not see this as a drawback. Most HDTV sources will allow you to select the output format. Simply select 1080i for the output and it will accept the signals. I would expect all scalable and future HD DVDs to support both HDTV formats of 1080i and 720p. To put things into perspective, the signal will always be scaled to the native resolution of the plasma.

The only way to see PIP with a satellite signal is if you have a dual tuner satellite (or two satellite receivers)and have both signals connected to the plasma on different inputs. Then press the PIP button on the remote.

The TH-42PWD6UY does not have a tuner built-in. To tell if a plasma has a tuner, look for NTSC tuner listed in the specifications. The TH42PWD6UY is an EDTV so it will down convert an HDTV signal to 480p, this unit will require an external HDTV decoder box (could be digital cable or satellite receiver) to display the down converted signal.

The PX25 is the consumer model with more convenience feature such as speakers, universal remote, NTSC and ATSC tuner for standard and HDTV reception. It also comes with the table stand and more video inputs than the 50PHD6UY. The video performance is virtually the same.
