- How does the Hitachi42HDT50 compate with other brands. Sony alwys seems to get good ratings, but I beleive Hitachi makes parts for other plamsa dealers. Is the Hitachi a good plasma? What are the pros and cons?
- i was comparing panasonic TH42HD6UY to hitachi's 4202; similarly priced; which do you feel is better and why? i know that the pan's contrast is better but the hitachi has higher native HD resolution. which spec should be weighed heavier for purchasing
- Hello, I have recently purchase a Hitachi 50" plasma television. My son and I have been relentlessly playing our playstaion 2 on it. Today, I noticed the EA logo on the top corner, and the online logo at the bottom. You have to look very close to see it, but it's there. We have discontinued use of the tv with the ps2. I need help. What can i do to fix this problem?

- Bought a Hitachi plasma TV 18months ago and the colour keeps coming and going. Every few weeks the entire screen, including the onscreen prompts (when using the remote) only show up as green and red. We've had an aerial booster installed, thinking it could be a propblem with the signal, but that hasn't fixed it. No one seems to be able to shed any light on this. Can you? The colour seems to 'correct' itself after a while - but then it just happens again some time later. Is this a known plasma problem?
- I bought this 42HD50 Hitachi Plasma like 20 days back. Yesterday and day before while watching some programming, i saw a white cursor/arrow on screen, which on close look looked like 1-1/2 pixles. But when i powerd on again it went away. Not sure why those particular pixles didn't power up. Should i report to Retail Store ? They would like to check, But i can't generate the cursor thing again on demand ? Should i be concerned ? Thx Paul
- Hi, I've been considering the Hitachi 32/42PD5000TA for my home. But unsure about Hitachi Plasmas in general, are they a good buy? since I havent seen a review anywhere on the internet. I am also considering the Panasonic TH-42PA20H. But the Panasonic is EDTV and the Hitachi is HDTV. If I watch a lot of DVDs and standard definition TV, which is better? Will I get more sharpness picture with the higher pixel count Hitachi or should choose the Panasonic with its high contrast ratio of 4000:1.
- I have recently purchased a Hitachi 42PD5000TA plasma TV. I am very happy with all facets except for the skin tone colours. All skin tones appear to have a shadow and all look very silky and smooth. I have played around with the picture settings but can't seem to improve on the colours and look of the skin tones. Can you recommend what settings I should have set up to eliminate this? Thanks for your time.
- just bought pd5200 but black areas have green pixels moving within the area, the screen seems to have A blured image what-ever sorce I use, even through comp-with p-scan,is there A fault with the screen?

Hitachi orginally partnered with Pioneer on their plasma displays. Now, Hitachi is in a joint venture with Fujitsu. I tend to find that Fujitsu and Sony are very high priced compared to what can be found in other brands.

I am not very fond of the 1024x1024 resolutions. They look spectacular for 1080i however, anything less, there is a lot of scaling done to make up the difference in 480i to 1024. I have found the 1024x768 resolutions to be a much better compromise for people who still watch DVDs and standard definition tv.

Check through the manual for an orbital or pixel rotation mode. That should be used to prevent any burn in. Also search for a screen saver or negative image mode. Most manufacturers employ various types of anti-burn-in technology. Try the negative image modes to remove the ghosting.

The manual may have some durations listed for the screen saver mode. Or I would utilize it as long as required to remove the temporary image persistance.

This is not a common plasma problem. I would have a service technician take a look at the unit. If the problem occurs with all inputs, cable, DVD, etc, it is likely a problem with the set. If it is localized to one component, it could be the component or that single input on the plasma.

This appears to be a one-time anomaly and I would not be concerned.

An EDTV will perform better than an HDTV for standard definition and DVD playback since those are 480i and 480p signals. The HDTV will only look better on HDTV signals.

I would suggest buying a calibration DVD such as AVIA or Video Essentials. These have specific test patterns and color filters to properly calibrate all settings of your display. If you want the absolute best picture, higher an ISF certified technican to calibrate your plasma.

It sounds like you have a problem with the screen. I would call the dealer.
