- My inputs sources: DirecTV HD Sat Box. Progressive Scan DVD/Surround system and: Gateway FM901XMedia Center. The Media center has DVI/VGA and SVid outs. I want a 37-42" monitor that will do a great job at showing my Directv and over the air Hi Def, A good job with the DVD player and a acceptable job at displaying internet stuff while I surf on my TV. SO I will have frozen images over one minute (almost always)while surfing. From what I can read, this cannot be done without purchasing a tv that I will ruin in a matter of months. (screen burn) I am running this system currently on a Sony KV34XBR800 using the DVI input. This TV will not size properly beacuse the video driver will not budge off 680 x 400. The Media center ATI driver will operate both the VGA and DVI outputs at the same time. I need options. What can I purchase and do you have one? Thanks for all your info. It has been very helpful. Oh yeah, Gateway does not know shit. They made a unit and don't have a clue.
- I've seen 5starselectronics ads for several years but they're (1) from NY and (2) much cheaper than competitors. Would you buy a plasma TV from them?
- My budget dwindled so I need an inexpensive plasma. I was looking at Akai and some others. Can you suggest a low priced company that offers a good "bang for the buck"? (I have heard Sampo isn't too shabby).
- I am deciding between two different plasma models and would like some advice on the differences. They are the SONY KE 50XS910 and the Panasonic TH 50PX20UP. They are both around the same price and seem to offer similar features. I will mostly use the TV to watch digital cable if that makes a difference. Thanks
- I am planning on purchasing a plasma tv in the near future and after a considerable amount of research I have identified two plasma tv's, the Panasonic 50PHD6UY and the Philips 50PF9956, that I feel will meet my needs as an everyday tv. However, I am unable to decide which plasma to purchase. The Panasonic 50PHD6UY, as reviewed on Plasma TV Buying Guide as well as other rating websites, is considered one of the best, if not the best, plama tv on the market. The Philips 50PF9956 is a new model that will be available for sale in August and therefore reviews are hard, if not impossible, to come by. I like the looks of the Philips 50PF9956 better and am willing to pay a higher price for the Philips 50PF9956 if the difference in the picture and quality of the Philips 50PF9956 is not significantly less than that of the Panasonic 50PHD6UY. Please inform me as to which plasma you would choose and why. Thank you for your time, Don
- what do pixel and resolution mean?
- Hello, You recently reviewed JVC plasma panel model PD42WV74. If you have this information available, please let me know how long is he system cable connecting the panel to the receiver. Many thanks for your help. Sincerely, Victor

- Is there a product that will remove permanent markers ( Sharpie ) from a Plasma / LCD display?
- Am in the market for a plasma tv and have narrowed the field down to the Panasonic TH-42PD25U/P and the Toshiba 42HP83. Prices are relatively comparable. What are your thoughts on the two models and which do you prefer and why? Thanks.

If the driver will not support anything other than 640x480, then it does not sound like something you want to use. That resolution will not support HDTV broadcasts. You may want to reconsider your system without the Media Center or upgrade the video card and drivers. Then you can focus on a plasma that will fit your needs.

I have not heard of or bought from 5starelectronics but, if appears too good to be true... There is probably something hidden in the cost.

I have never been impressed by the Korean or China made plasmas. They are generally made with lesser grade components and will not last as long as some of the Japanese made units.

Both are very similar plasmas. The Panasonic has a higher resolution and higher black level. The TH-50PX20 has also just been replaced by the TH-50PX25UP. The PX25 adds a high definition decoder on board as well as a cable card reader. The Sony model is slightly brighter and may have a better aesthetic appeal to some people.

I have not seen the new Philips models yet, so I can not comment at this time.

- what do pixel and resolution mean?
A pixel is the single cell of color on the fixed panel display. Resolution is the number of pixels on the panel stated as number of pixels wide by number of pixels tall.

The plasma comes with a 3 meter cable. A 10 meter cable is available.

I am not aware of any products, I would suggest keeping those away from the plasma.

The Toshiba is an HDTV while the Panasonic is an EDTV, so if you plan on watching HDTV in the future, I would suggest going with the Toshiba. Both offer very good pictures. The Panasonic will have better blacks.
