- SONY and Hitachi both have Plasmas with ALiS Panels, which I heard can double the lifespan of a plasma TV. Is this true? are there other positive/negative aspects of getting a Plasma with ALiS Panels compare to a regular one?
- 1.If the plasma got the built in tuner do need a sperate set top box?? 2. wht is difference between plasma technology and LCD. and which one is the best?
- What can you say about LG plasma TV's ? I'm planning to buy an LG plasma model RT42PX10 or MT42PX10 but I couldn't find any reviews about it.
- I bought a Daewoo plasma and it was the last one and didn't come with a manual. When turning it on, from standby to operate, it takes some warming up (is my guess). You have to press one of the buttons (volume, input sel, menu, etc) to take it from standby (red) to operate (green light). The amount of time it takes to allow me to go to operate phase varies (assuming temp/ac, etc), and which button I push varies to make it ready also varies. It is just so strange that sometimes it comes on immediately with one button, then the next time with the same one, it takes 15 mins or so. What is the proper way to turn on this plasma screen?...other than that..I couldn't be happier with the screen. Thanks, Tom
- When I need to move a plasma TV from one house to another house, about 7 miles, how I protect it?
- recently recieved my new plasma 42 in screen but itcame with a burnt out pixel ,am i entitled for it to be replaced the manufacturer are refuseing
- I was recently told buy a salesman at an electronics store that commercial models of plasmas are not made for high action movies or sports. That there can be a shadowing or trailing effect of a thrown football or an action hero flying across the screen. I am interested in the commercial models because I do not need a tuner or speakers, and they are a bit cheaper. But I do not want a trailing effect of action sequences. Is this true??? I am heavily considering Panasonic TH-42PDW6UY, which is a commercial model for them. The consumer model compatible is $1500 more. Is it worth it? Thank you!
- How do do you get pictures such as artwork and photographs to cycle through the plasma TV screen on its own? Do you need to hook it up to a PC?
- I am wondering whether the ext. and standard warranty for the Plasma, covers the screens internationally. I am about to purchase a used plasma TV from our parent American company (I live in Europe), hence my question. Thanks.
- The majority of my viewing is not movies or hd broadcasts. Therefore, I am concerned about the picture quality and 'stretching' when converting from 4:3 broadcoasts to the 16:9 wide screen. How is the picture quality? What is the best Plasma tv when it comes to this quality?

There is no lifespan advantages of an ALiS panel versus others on the market right now. I actually prefer the non-ALiS panels for all of my viewing. The ALiS panel units tend to have more artifacts for 480i or 480p viewing.

I have not heard of any plasmas taking excessive time to warm up and display a picture. Most of the units I have tested, display a picture within a few seconds. I would contact Daewoo or the dealer and have this problem investigated.

- When I need to move a plasma TV from one house to another house, about 7 miles, how I protect it?
When transporting any plasma display, you will want to keep it in an upright or vertical orientation. I always suggest keeping the original boxes as it makes moving them much easier. The vertical orientation will help prevent any cracking of the glass while in transit.

Each manufacturer has their own policies regarding DOA pixels. Most manufacturers will not deem one pixel out of many thousand as a defect. There is not much you can do, your dealer may offer some service beyond what the manufacturer will offer to you.

There is typically very little difference between a commercial model and consumer model plasma. Plasma in general do not suffer from a trailing effect, that is commonly found in some LCD tvs. I would purchase the commercial model if you are looking for a great display without a tuner or speakers.

There are some DVDs with content like a screen saver that can be used as you described, otherwise, the plasma will have to be connect to a computer running a screen saver.

An extended warranty is always a good idea when purchasing a plasma display. You will have to read the terms and conditions of the warranty to determine if it is covered internationally. The majority of warranties I have seen do not support the product outside of the country it was sold.

All plasmas have some sort of stregth or aspect ratio feature and each is slightly different. I have found all of the current models to have very good scalers. Everyone will have a preference, I tend to like the scalers built into the Sony models.
