- What is the best way to remove burn-in in a plasma? I am getting a great deal on an NEC PDP but it has images that are burned in. I was told I can run a pure white screen for a few weeks and it should fade. Is that true? Is there a better way to remove or fade the burn-in? I do not have the image to reverse it either, so that is not an option either.
- Is a plasma screen tv the same as an LCD tv? Thanks. Sue

If it is true burn-in, then there is nothing that can be done to reverse it. There may be some temporary ghosting that can be reversed after a white screen or image inversion is displayed intermittently. If the image persists after a day or two of normal viewing, then it will probably not disappear.

Here is a good article regarding the difference between the two technologies. http://www.plasmatvbuyingguide.com/dlpvsplasmatv.html

A UPS (un-interruptible power supply) is not required for a plasma. I would suggest using a good quality surge protector.

There are no devices on the market designed to remove the network id bugs on the screen since they are embedded onto the signal from the broadcast station. The best thing to do is to keep the plasma in a pixel rotation mode if it has one built-in to prevent any image persistance.

SVA is a Chinese based company. I have not been impressed with the quality of work from the plasmas coming out of China. These are the low end of plasmas.

The Sanyo gets the glass for this panel from Panasonic however, the electronics inside are Sanyo. I have not had a chance to view this screen to see how it compares to the Panasonic.

Some DVD will have both the widescreen and fullscreen versions on the same disc. There is typically a setup menu on the DVD to select which version to watch. Select widescreen for all 16:9 plasmas.

I would utilize these features periodically for a few minutes if there are no residual images. If you have any residual images, I would use them right away and for reasonable durations until they are removed. Although, no extended use of this will remove permanant image retention.

TV and monitor as often interchanged for the same definition. One can think of a TV as having a TV tuner and monitor as not having a tuner. One will find that the plasma "TV's" will also have speakers, some sort of stand, more inputs/outputs, more convenience features. The monitors can be used as TV for streaming video with an set top box with a tuner such as a digital cable box or satelite receiver. A VCR can also be used as a tuner.
