LG 50PN4500 Review

50 inch 720p Plasma TV

LG 50PN4500 Specifications

This 50 inch plasma offering leads the way in LG's budget plasma category for 2013/2014. The 50PN4500 is the largest size in the series. It is a very bare bones model that lacks any sort of internet functionality or 3D playback. The LA4500 from last year was a solid value when it came to what you got for your dollar and this one is no exception. Keep an eye on the 50PN4500 if you are shopping for a new HDTV on a budget.

720p HD Resolution

LG 50PN4500

The 50PN4500 has a 720p screen in a sea of 1080p options. This makes it a true budget choice, but that doesn't mean the picture can't compete with the best of them. Most of the over-the-air broadcasts, cable TV programming, and video games are still offered at a native signal of 720p. So you are truly going to using the TV at its full potential. Higher def broadcasts are on the way, but for the time being 720p is all you need to make the most of it. Plus, the picture still looks good.

The PN4500 is not really going to be a winner when it comes to a gaming TV. Higher end plasmas and LEDs from LG this year have received dual core processors as well as enhanced GPUs capable of handling the input and on-screen information properly.

Side Angle Viewing

Side angle viewing has not been a problem with plasmas like it has been with LCDs and LEDs of the past. The viewing angle is pretty perfect in fact. This can be a make or break feature when it comes to choosing the right set. The 50PN4500 does not disappoint in this area.
